I am gathering that the power of this tablet will likely about that of a modern netbook, so I'm a little disappointed if it runs a slightly modified iPhone OS. I think it would be great if Snow leopard implements an interface for the tablet that allows you to choose between a simplified iPhone type OS but will let you plug it in and boot into normal Snow Leopard. I believe this is possible, I mean, that would be AWESOME to me if it happened that way.

I'd actually prefer to see the modified iPhone OS, I don't really see how it could run full OS X, but that might just be me.
This used to be the never-ending debate for the tablet, long before there was a date, etc... I used to support the idea of running a full OS, but now am a fan of the iPhone OS.

I don't know, I am in the middle, but I want it to have the flexibility to do what I need it to do, but at the same time I can see the need for a scaled down OS because the processor needs to be saved. Going to be hard, I guess I will wait and see what the 27th brings.

I feel the same way, that's why I think if it can do both it will be golden!

I want apps to be created especially for the tablet, a tablet that has multi-touch so I can use my 2 hands fully. Think of the great interfaces etc. that can be made for it.
The Microsoft Surface is one example of how a big multitouch screen can be used. There are loads of amazing apps on the iPhone App Store, but I can't wait to see what developers create with a 10" screen.
You are gathering pure speculation. Some speculate that the tablet will be a netbook with a virtual keyboard. Others speculate that it will be a large iPod touch.
The tablet will be a general purpose computing device with a touch interface on a flat panel 10" screen. Add to this the ability to watch video, and to read and manipulate electronic books and magazines. Now think about what else you can do within the constraints of the form factor. This is what the tablet will be.
Tablets have traditionally used a desktop OS designed for a mouse and keyboard. That's worked pretty great so far, right? Wrong. Apple is going to create a new multi-touch OS, using existing technology from the iPhone with a new interface designed for a larger screen.
A newly extended UIKit, the full version of core data, and NSAttributedString and I'll be pretty happy.
If I had to guess, I'd say the biggest hint would come from the rumor that the iPhone was a product of the development of the Tablet (but they postponed the release due to technology not being up to speed or whatever). So with that in mind, it would mean that the iPhone OS was a scaled down version of the Tablet OS to account for screen size, and the limitations of how the device is held. So 'slightly modified' wouldn't apply, and if I had to guess it's going to be much more advanced and intuitive than what we see with the iPhone OS.
