Equally weighted requirements:
  • Front fingerprint sensor
  • IP68 or better
  • CDMA, GSM and Band 12 (worldwide carrier support)
  • USB-C
  • Nougat
  • ~4.7-5.2" Display
Close but no cigar:
A5 lacks carrier/band support.
S7 lacks USB-C
iPhone 7 lacks Nougat
S8 lacks front fingerprint sensor

Take a look at the Moto G5 Plus. I think the only thing it lacks is NFC and USB C(I think).

My bad. I could have swore they mentioned it was water resistance.
No worries. It is a good option, lacking only two of my reqs. Frankly, to the best of my knowledge, my dream phone doesn't exist.

Not sure if it meets your band requirements, but perhaps take a look at the Sony Xperia XZ series.
Fingerprint sensor is on the side, but perhaps you can live with that since its not on the back.

Yes, while the fingerprint is better on the side than the back, the XZ does not support CDMA.

No phone fits your wish list.

Either shorten your list or keep waiting.

Yep, this is clear.

The S7 is the only android phone i would buy. No USB C, hardly a deal breaker. Had the S7 and edge preferred the non edge.

Full disclosure, I use an iPhone 6, but I want an Android as a backup.

What I want doesn't exist. The S7 and the A5 are the closest. While lack of USB-C isn't a deal breaker, it is a demotivator. The 2017 A3/5/7 only lacks carrier/band support, which is a deal breaker.

Considering I don't need this phone, the S7 price and lack of USB-C is a deal breaker. In fact failing to meet any specs is a deal breaker, since I don't need this phone.

To be fair I tried the dual mobile thing. Android and iOS. Too much hassle. I am selling my S7.

It's the tech fear of missing out. Really you can do the same on both. I still believe iOS is cleaner and all the other arguments. Sure you can customise android but meh, I never did. Mainly I had the weather/clock widget and that's it.

I have been on android for 2 years so it's change time. I still have a Nexus 7 if I fancy a play.
