Heheh, I´m bored so I decided to put my MacBook Pro to the limit, both cores 100%, 1100mb (out of 1280) of RAM used up, hardrives and fans spinning like crazy and my desk about to melt :) yet the machine is still very usable even with Finder, Dashboard, System Preferences, Safari, Firefox, Mercury, Acquisition, Pixen, Quicktime, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand, PhotoBooth, Keynote 3, Pages 3, Microsoft Word, Excel, Entourage, Microsoft Messenger, Parallels (running an instance of WinXP Pro!), Mactracker, Calculator RPN, Grab and Preview, yet I can still use the computer as normal, who needs Merom? The power is right here with Yonah :) lol I love my MacBook Pro very much, very impressive considering its running a lot of demanding UB apps, a resource hungry translator (rosetta) and a few PowerPC apps and its running another OS as well!

Does the progeram that allows you to run WINDOWS come with the MBP?
How does the windows THING work.. when you turn on the computer .. do you just hold down a special key if you want it to start in windows??

What is the minimum HD space you can allocate to windows..

cheers

and thanks for sharing your test!!

I would like to see if it can run FCP and Motion at the same time.. ???

No, it won't, atleast the last time I tried in the Apple store. I opened every application there was in the dock, FCP, Motion, PS, Illustrator, Bridge and all the other usual programs, the screen went blank so I shut it off and turned it back on. I did the same thing and the screen went blank again.

That's the reason why I'm waiting for merom, i was gonna get it, but i'll wait now.

I'm not so sure merom will change those results as much as getting UB versions of all the software particularly the Adobe CS suite.

I know, but heat is another issue and the 2 gb ram. I guess I'll see what Apple puts in the new MBP. Might have to get a Mac Pro instead.

Come on people! Throw an iTunes visualizer on there!

On my iBook (G3 700) just playing a song in iTunes 7 with no CoverFlow or visualizer sucks up 35% of my processor. I hate iTunes 7, but I'm looking forward to getting a new MacBook Pro to replace it!

Just need another $500 (3 or 4 months of work, with all my classes I have hardly any time), and my parents might pick up the tab on the AppleCare, since I'll need this thing to last through the rest of my senior year of high school a few years of college. The Meroms better come out soon.

:( I hate this computer. Screenshots are making me jealous :D

I am very impressed by you all. I can't open 5 progrmas on my current computer. Here's how bad it is: I can play music with iTunes but cannot do anything else, like type. 2GHz P4 fresh Windows install a couple weeks ago

Bah! Thats nothing!

Thats right... 50 apps!

But are you running Rosetta and a virtual machine ;) I'm sure I could hit a lot more if I just opened UB apps but Parallels takes up like 700mb of memory or so.

Mmmm...tasty.

Seriously though, that's friggin sweet. I was astounded at the ability to handle so much crap when I got my MacBook. Had both a TiBook and a PowerMac G4...never thought I could get this much processing power out of a laptop.
