The Racing Line has been 4 years of my life. It began life as an app for motorsport calendars and timetables. Unlike other sports, motorsport is a mess and calendars and timetables are absolutely all over the place. I wanted an app to deal to tell me what race was on and when, but there were none with the coverage and quality that I wanted - so I learnt Swift and built my own iOS app to do it.
I rebuild the entire thing around a year ago and for the 2025 season I’ve added streaming to the app so you can now watch over 100 series live in the app itself.
The motorsport world has a huge amount of money to run the cars but nobody invests in the tech. So I solved some problems the industry is bad at. I convert all times to your local time zone, and I have customisable notifications so you can select how far in advance you want a notification.
Because there’s so many series you can also enable/disable the series you want. You essentially build your own calendar using the settings.
The Racing Line supports all the modern iOS features you’d expect - Widgets, custom icons, Picture in Picture and AirPlay.
For 2025 I’m also building it out to be a driver and series marketing platform. I’m partnering with drivers (the first is Sally Mott - IMSA Whelen Mazda MX-5 racer) and Ginetta to market their Ginetta GT, Ginetta Academy and Ginetta Junior race series.
Android version is planned but I’m waiting on lawyers doing uninteresting legal stuff to get me setup to hire an Android developer to build it.
