Hi all:

I plan to replace ECC 16G RAM. The model I saw on the store is:

DDR3 ECC REG 16G 1866 REG

I want to know, can 1866 be used on cMP 2010 dual CPU processor board?
In addition, this RAM has REG. Will there be any problems?

Thanks for help

This tells us nothing. Post a picture of the memory label.

A lot of 1866MHz RAM is quad rank, MacPro5,1 requires dual rank to work at 1333MHz. When a quad rank memory works with a MacPro5,1, most won't, it will work at 800Mhz or at best 1066MHz.

OMG, I will ask the store to provide pictures, and I will update this post when I get the pictures. Thank you.

Hi:

I just tried to learn the meaning of dual rank, may I ask, if some RAM marked 2Rx4 or 2Rx8. Does this mean that the RAM is dual rank?
