Anyone else with me, brooding over a pint of Guinness, wondering what it means for an iPad to "ship by" April 12th? As I mix the foam of my second pint with my index finger I ponder "does that mean it ships between now and April 12th? Is it a good sign that they already charged my card? Why did I wait so frickin' long to pre-order my iPad? Most importantly, why no multi-tasking!?" Okay, so the last part is just a knee-jerk thing that keeps happening spontaneously.

Anyhow, you're not alone.

i got a friend in Florida on holiday i have given them $540 cash to get me a "16-wifi" and bring back to the uk, trouble is is that they are returning on the 15th! if they do order it's gonna be tight!

keep us posted as to when u get shipping notice?
 
Sure thing. I know the "ships by" point is purposefully vague, but just an "estimated shipping date" would be more reassuring.
 
Then when will the 3Gs ship? I am waiting to pre-order mine until the middle of next week to see if the hype dies down. If there are any issues with the iPad they will be all over the net next week.

3Gs in May?

I'm part of your club. Obsessively checking my email every 15 minutes hoping for a shipping notification.
 
LOL. I've gone beyond that. I know the instant I get every email via my phone, so I'm checking my Apple Store account every ten minutes. I also check my bank account to see if the hold has turned into a payment.
 
I'm in the same boat. What bummed me was that when I ordered I wasn't allowed to select anything other than "standard shipping,"

Yeah, I noticed that too. At first I thought it made sense, because they don't know when the product will be available in the necessary quantities. But then I thought, "well, when it is available, why can't they ship it next day?"
 
I just wish there was SOME indication of whether it is going to ship on April 12th, or before April 12th.... the language just isn't clear enough.
 
I'm part of your club as well. I didn't realize I needed an iPad until the shipping date had become "April 12". I was so bummed...
 
This is sinking in the multiple threads on iPad impressions, but I still would like to know: when can we reasonable expect these things to ship? "By April 12th" seems to mean before April 12th, or? I'm feeling like I should have just gone to the store to buy one, now that I hear all these stories about picking them up.
