Hi All

I have Mac OS 11.5.2 on my Mac mini "Core i7" 3.2 late 2018. When I capture the screen using Apple's built in capture method (shift-⌘-5) I get a strange sound which is an alert sound superimposed on a camera sound. I remember it used to be that you just got the camera sound but I don't know when the sound changed to what it is now. It is so ugly I'm thinking it must be a fault with my computer actually.

Is there some way that I can change this screen capture sound to just the camera sound that I used to have?

Thank you.

Patrick

I noticed it with Big Sur initially. But you know, it's about a one-second sound, so I don't notice it at all anymore. There is most likely no way to change it because it's in the OS System itself, which is no longer editable in any way.

You could just use any of the numerous third-party screen capture utilities. I recommend Monosnap, which is free for all but the sharing/uploading features. But to be honest, it might be overkill for your needs and it's just going to be easier for you to ignore the sound of the built-in screen capture utility.

Thank you for your reply.

Knowing that it is intentional greatly reduces my irritation with it because it sounds to me like some kind of fault.

I will add it to my list of bizarre things about the Mac OS.

I think it came with Big Sur as well.
