Of course, some will say this is evidence of what marketing geniuses they are.

But they never seem to make a product that can tick all the boxes Im after (yeah, it's my fault for being so demanding...lol)

Had my heart set on a macbook....but just one port (i don't like lugging around accessories)

Wanted new iPhone 8 but it doesn't have the camera features I want.

And on it goes.

The only product that's done it for me is the macbook air. at least it offers everything I need.

Apple can't meet every consumers specific options they want in a product. It's just not possible. Your listing features that are not applicable to you, that might be applicable to somebody else. That's just how the technological world works. I could say the same about opposing competitor hardware that doesn't meet my needs, but Apple's products do. The Argument goes both ways.

hah... we're all demeaning,, its natural. It's the same reason why i don't't go for a 12 Macbook because of USB-C... They look good, but after reconnecting eithernet-to-Thunderbolt adapter 20 times in one day because the darn thing kept falling out every-time i move my mac.. well i think i saved myself greef..

Apple's replacing a "function first it-just-works" focus with fashion-first function-be-damned focus.

Gearing their music software so as to assume all users prioritize streaming music and abandoning those of us who want to just easily & intuitively access synced music files in my collection. Haven't used the iOS Music app for years...

The fact that Apple software and hardware no longer feels like it was magically made for you. Feels like it was made for someone with a very specific minimalist mindset who already knows how to navigate apps & an interface that are much less intuitive than "before," and who prefers to always leave the house with a pocketful of dongles and who doesn't need to be able to see the screen outdoors in the sun.

I've said it before in another thread, their entry-level iPhone SE and MacBook Air (2015) are two of my favorite products ever. Fast, reliable, cheap, and has all the ports. I also don't want to make Apple any richer. Let them sucker others for thousands of dollars. MacBook Air is more powerful than their more expensive 12" MacBook.

If I planned to get the MacBook Pro, I want the Retina one from 2015. Terms like "outdated" don't mean squat to me. Just a word to promote planned obsolescence. Right now I don't even want Apple Watch Series 3. I only want Series 2. Don't need LTE or another $10 plan for it.

They might be an oldie but still a goodie. Kinda like music. I like the oldies.

I'm pretty happy with my 2014 MacBook Air with i7, but may come to need something more powerful but expandable. 128g SDD doesn't cut it for me... The idea of being able to update memory/battery/SDD on a 2015 MBP sounds great but -- since I'm not updated enough on computer hardware req's vs. Mac OS's -- is there something about 32 bit vs. 64 bit (or other hardware details) limitation that may render a 2015 MBP unfriendly to near-term-future OSX updates and/or OSX software?

I needed to look up something and found the following help page from Apple...

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8771

Am I the only one to find it extremely funny (sad? ironic?) that Apple chose to show a MBP with a healthy supply of ports (like how it should be IMHO) instead of a clumsy dongle?

Note that the page was last revised in June 2017.

Things that make you go hmmm....

Well, if they are talking about disconnecting an Ethernet cable they best show the connector for it probably. Seems like they simply didn't add photos of using an Ethernet connector via a USB or USB-C adapter.

I like the OS and that pretty much cover it with Apple computer products. I only like the synching of the iPhone to the computers (again OS) and that is about it.

I have come up with my own tag line about Apple of today-

Apple, just another company.

Completely agree with OP. There is always a ‘but’ when you talk about Apple’s products: but you can’t send MMS, but there’s no memory card slot, but there’s no optical drive, but you can’t reach the ports because they’re round the back, but there’s no internal expansion, but it starts at £999 and so on.

For all that I critique about today's Apple and the questionable (to me) priorities of a few powerful designers in charge there who seem too fascinated with uber-minimalism too often at the cost of usefulness across a wide range of users (as well as at the expense of the "Apple experience" that's been replaced with a "me too" experience as if Apple's trying to out-do Android/Google and the old Windows phone instead of letting Android/Microsoft/others chase Apple), the one thing I can't critique about Apple is: when they buy into something, they stick with it hard and fast and completely, and with no apologies. They can update their entire website almost overnight and wipe out all the prior Apple-like page designs and replace them with a snowstorm white-out blanket of grey/white flat design spread out over way too much wasted white space. They force Phone 4 users to "upgrade" to iOS7 with no turning-back permitted, even if it pretty much bricks their expensive few-years-old phone. They replace a user community forum for help/questions that used to look like a well-run forum with something that looks like a blank white memo pad on Jony Ive's desk. Full steam ahead to one common theme.

No laptop produced by Apple at the moment has an ethernet port, maybe not for 5 years...nor all those beautiful additional ports seen in that photo. The fact that Apple hasn't decided to show an ethernet dongle clumsily connected to the one single usb C port on the side of a MacBook is very, very telling. To me at least.

Ha, come to think of it, a second big critique I have is Apple's lack of attention to detail now compared to 4-5 years ago. Perhaps that image is another "oversight." But I don't think so.

To reel this back to the topic at hand, all this relays to my critiques in post #4 above.

You've generally disagreed across the board with my critiques of iOS7-11's UI so I shouldn't be surprised here. :)

How do they force people exactly ? If you connect to Wi-Fi, then ya, i agree, BUT the user havs the option to connect, they don't have to do, unless they don't want to use their carrier's connection.

I still am on iOS 10.3.3 on iPhone 6s Plus, and have never connected to Wi-Fi ever. so I dodged a bullet with that one classified as "safe". Although I get annoying notifications on Home screen about updates available even over carrier, but i'd rather that, then something downloaded behind the scenes ihave to delete all the time.

I doubt Apple we will ever see the return of the eithernet port on Mac's just like we won't see the return of the headphone port on iPhones...

We gotta live with it.

Any place but here or there....
Some of what irritates me most has been mentioned:

The loss of "it just works" for price gouging fashion over function, and Apple not maintaining hardware and software.

I'd like to buy a nicely spec'd Mac with an SSD for max $2k rather than $3k. Yeah, that's not much more than what I paid for Macs prior to 2010, but the fluid experience has gone downhill a bit. They're still gimping the cheaper Macs to push consumers to the more expensive models. :(

It just astounds me that more regular users as well as those with a larger soapbox/platform don't complain about this more.
