Hello, I wish to share with you a really strange issue. One I haven't found any other accounts of.

I bought my Macbook Pro (Late 2008) in January. Windows is fully up to date as are all of my drivers including the updated trackpad driver, original realtek and nvidia drivers. Minimal and trusted apps are used.

All issues unless specifically mention are under Bootcamp.

The issue is if i touch the trackpad whilst for example playing a youtube video it will show video corruption in the form of bit of green blobs and black lines in the video and the audio will start to squeak and crackle. It will also crash firefox. It will crash the game Trials2:SE after the audio stops and the game jams up. I also see the video corruption in the background video of Company of Heroes in game main menu. These are the main examples.
The video and audio corruption as well as audio crashing also previously happened in VLC on OSX, not any more.

Im not sure if this is related but sometimes I have to plug in and then out headphones after booting into XP or OSX to get sound from the speakers.
Also the trackpad is a nightmare to use as it is way to sensitive to touch and right clicking doesn't behave normally, it right and left clicks if clicked (not tapped.)

This laptop has other issues like backlight bleed, that common LED screen issue that can be seen on a black picture and the keyboard imprinted and a lid that doesn't sit flush. Aswell as a defective shift key!!

I know the obvious thing is to return it but I am currently housebound and trying to explain these issues over the phone to a non-native british english speaker will make it even harder. I also don't intend ever sending my laptop in with my hdd (i'd pop the original back in.)

Thanks for listening sorry if this issue has come up before I have been searching for it to no avail.

It may not be your computer....

I noticed you said firefox. I have firefox on a linux machine and the EXACT same stuff happens! I was getting mad thinking it was something with my eeePC or in linux (which I am new to). Hm....very interesting....

EDIT: I should say the same internet issues are happening as far as video play back and weird trackpad stuff.

Windows on Apple notebooks will always have issues because of the poor drivers Apple provide. Don't expect it to change in the future.

Ok the audio crackle issue us an issue for everyone. It happens because the sound card is interfering with the audio card everytime the wireless card searches for a network. Something like every minute. Search this forum, windows on mac, and look for a thread on how to play blu-ray's. The thread is started by Jaded something and he tells you how to fix this, very easy.

I dont know about the rest of your issues but I can guess. I play TF2 on my unibody macbook pro and when I updated the trackpad firmware to version 1.0 the game started crashing. I did a system restore to before when I installed that horrendous update and everything went back to normal. My suggestion is to use an external mouse in windows. I bet this will solve the rest of your problems.

*edit*

here is the thread i mentioned https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/647170/

Thanks for the replies. Im glad atleast one other person has experienced my main issues. Although not for them ;( I had read about other crackling issues and even tried the fix bit doesnt make a significant difference if any. One day I'll have to contact apple about it all. I never expected a trackpad driver to screw with the audio and video in such a way.

If I were you, I would rush that thing into an Apple store. Having the video distort due to trackpad usage is pretty messed up. It may be a problem that they're willing to repair/replace to solve.

I've been monitoring this a bit more and you're right, it doesn't fix it completely. I still get an occasional "pop". I can't tell if it's powerdvd 7 or the same problem as before.

I can tell you that I've seen significant improvement with this fix though. I use to get a nasty crackle sound every minute but I actually don't get this anymore. Just an occasional "pop". It's slightly annoying, but its not very loud.
