iPad user since the infamous iPad 3. A week ago I upgraded my old 2015 12.9 to the new 2020 model along with the new Magic Keyboard. During this past week I have quickly turned to using the trackpad for many of my interactions instead of touching the actual screen. I would say when my iPad is connected to the MK the majority of my actions take place using the trackpad now.

I know the usual response will be “why not just get a laptop then?” My answer is the Apple Pencil. Honestly if it weren’t for the greatness that is the Apple Pencil I would probably have gotten a Surface Pro.

Anyone else with the MK finding themselves loving the trackpad?

My reaction is that the trackpad is nice but I'm still actually using the touchscreen more on the iPad.

The magic keyboard fixes about 90% of the issues with the original Smart Keyboard folio with the major exception of having a function row. Overall for me the magic keyboard is a good purchase.

I love the trackpad as well. It's a fantastic experience. I'm still getting used to the gestures and what not, but it's completely transformed the way I use my iPad.

I'm not taking Summer classes, and the MK came out after school was shifted online for us (so I'm used my Mac mini for that), but I can totally see myself not using my MacBook Pro at school. I wish the MK could have been positioned for drawing as well (I have seen the posts on MR regarding this - but I mean in a more official sense).

Not sure if this is related but I am in the boat of either getting a MacBook Air / Pro as a WFH machine. After thinking through my work process which is emails, word processing, spreadsheets, etc nothing hardcore.

I got the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro 11 inch 2018. Have to say the experience has been great and I can manage to get my work done.

Now that I see the full potential of the iPadOS I’ve placed an order for the 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2020 since the 11 inch is cramped.

Hope things go smooth from here on.

Well, I did exactly the same, now I am very satisfied with my choice to get the 12.9 (to replace the IPP 11" and MBA).

As much as my wallet hurts to say this, but I am also thourghly enjoying the MKB as well. I sold my 2019 13” MBP to get this though so it wasn’t a huge price difference. The track pad on it is HUGE for me as I import a lot of excel files into numbers and do a lot of vlookups for work. Now I can basically do everything at ease just like I did on my MBP.

It really helps that the trackpad is so incredibly responsive and the physical click works well on the entire trackpad surface. Little things like that make a big difference.
