The Unofficial "Bootable CD's won't boot" thread

Well, it's official now: I'm incapable of burning bootable CD's from Linux iso's. I won't give in to the latest thread-naming fad though, this will NOT be the official thread about this subject
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I used to burn Linux iso's all the time when I had a PC and they always worked. But now, I have failed to burn a bootable CD for both Gentoo and Ubuntu. One was burned with Nero (on a PC) and the other one with Toast Titanium. On both I used some sort of "burn image" option. Neither of them boots when I press 'c' on startup, and neither of them shows up on the Startup Disk menu.
Also, pressing the Command button on startup to show a boot menu doesn't work on my PB. Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong? thanks

I think my problem might be related to the burning process. How do you usually burn these cd's using, say.., Toast? thanks

I've had no issues burning bootable CDs using Disk Utility.

I've burned many Linux ISOs, both LiveCDs and install CDs for both x86 and PowerPC from ISOs on my PowerBook. I just use Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility, drag the iso into the column on the right hand side. Then, click on the iso and click burn in the toolbar. Works every time for me. Toast shouldn't have a problem either.

By the way, you have to hold option (not command) while booting to get a boot menu.

Thanks for the tips guys, you won't be believe how stupid I am though... I overlooked the fact that I had to hold the 'c' button instead of pressing it intermittently
