So What's the verdict on the "iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter"?

Would be nice to know if it's going to display Videos & Keynote only?

Would be nice for gaming, 3rd party presentation software, Various 3rd party apps.

I really really wish i knew.....

I have it in my cart to hit "buy" - but then, what if i don't NEED it with the pico projector i'm buying that comes with a dock connector? I'm pondering if it would be a total PITA to have to return it if i can do what i want with the dock one in Keynote.

The SDK has more info in it, but not a lot of details really either apparently.... it sounds like we aren't really going to know until someone gets hardware in their hands.

I'd rather spend the $30 on something else.... same for printing - should i buy the AE now and chance that it is going to work like i hope, or wait and then not get it in time for when i do need it (April 10th).

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I keep staring at my amazon & apple cart wondering what to do...... the answers haven't appeared. HMPH.

It's by far not uncommon for information such as this to be revealed (leaked) from persons that actually have iPad's in possession now. And sometimes from the Horse's mouth.

Also, it's my understanding that it's very likely that some journalists are being given iPads a few days in advance for the purposes of review. So maybe we'll find out more soon.

I was just checking to see if anyone here might have caught news on this subject.

I did almost the same thing, but I actually added it to my order but then called Apple later to cancel that part (VGA connector). I will wait and see how it functions before I decided to get it.

I'm in wait-to-see mode on the hardware dongles. I may even consider eBay knock-offs. I have an awesome eBay iPhone 3G dock knock off. Quality is outstanding and it was $5 with a cable. I wait and see if the same happens with iPad accessories since I don't feel like spending $100+ on dongles (I want the VGA, dock and camera kit)

I'm guessing that it's on a case by case basis for each app and it's developer(s).

The description on the Apple Store says, "Supports Landscape Only" . So that automatically means that holding your iPad upright, from the main screen, or notes app , or calendar app, address book, in upright position will not feed video.

So a set of apps like iWork, that have that code in the app to take advantage of "Video Mirroring" will function properly, however, restricted to Landscape mode.

I would imagine that this set of tools that Apple used for Keynote would be available to the developer also (I don't know this for certain) .

If this is the case then each developer can choose whether to allow "Video mirroring" within their app.

The pitfall would be if Apple does not allow developers to take advantage of this feature. We already know it exists (by iWork)
