I sit here waiting for FedEX to deliver my new 24" 3.06 iMac, and it is just killing me. I feel like a young kid on his birthday waiting to see his presents. I have no idea when FedEX will show up and the waiting is just horrible. I don't think I have felt like this in years. This is my first Mac and I have been in the computer business since 1964. I know I am showing my age. The thought of learning a new OS feels daunting to me and I admit I am a little intimidated. I have ordered, but not had delivered the "OSX Leopard for Dummies" and the "iMac for Dummies" books. I guess I won't be to far away from my PC as I will be running XP Pro in a Virtual Machine, as my photography program has not been ported to Mac as of yet. I wonder if everyone who goes from PC to Mac feels this way!

I feel sorry for you, as today I phoned the independent reseller I wanted to buy my iMac from, the same 3.06Ghz as you, and they said they had one in stock. Going to collect it tomorrow, and gettin 4GB RAM for under half the price from Apple. Two hours free training too. Just goes to show, Apple stores aren't the best. I have, however been using Macs for many years now, and my advice for you is to read the stuff on the Apple website, and just getting used to using Mac OS X day-to-day is something you shouldn't find too difficult.

My son came over to help me get it up and running and the computer is still not here and it is after 4:00 PM. Sure I am waiting and the delivery is late.

At 5:00PM the FedEX truck finally came and dropped off my new toy. I had it up and running very quickly and found out how much I don't know. A good thing was that my son was there to give me a short quick class. The only problem that we ran into was that the new UPS I bought was not recognized by the OS. But as soon as I plugged in the old APC it worked perfectly. Today we will install the scanner, printers, and Windows XP with VM Wear.
