looks like this weekend is the one to make the switch in the state of Tennessee

SALES TAX HOLIDAY - www.apple.com/retail/taxholiday/tennessee.html

unfortunately there is a limit of 1500 -- i was hoping to get a refurb 24" 2.8 ghz

what do you think of the 24" 2.4 ghz in terms of performance with hd video editing (home movies) and then the normal music/photo/media stuff and web use?

I wish Indiana would do this once in a while. All they are interested in is raising sales tax. Just went up 1% (to 7%) more on April 1.

Plus in central Indiana there is a 1% food and beverage tax to pay for the new stadium. 8 freaking percent just to go out to eat. Uncle Sam, sticks his hand in your shirt and squeezes your tit 'til its purple.

Gee I love knowing I pay 10% regardless of where I am in the country.

I really love knowing that the price on the tag is the price that I pay.

i have to admit i really do wish it worked like that here in the states. while it isn't too hard to calculate tax, it starts to get a little confusing when you're often in places with different tax rates. it'd be nice to pay what's exactly written on the label. helps my sanity.

7%... you lucky g!t. Here in the good old UK we are slapped in the face with a wonderful 17.5%!!! Our tax is always added to the price tag for us so we don't have to walk around with a calculator!

Don't get me started with gas prices over here ($7.89 /gal)!!!!!

Poor you. Sorry you live in the UK. But thats irrelevant in this thread.

Isn't it always tax free if you order from amazon? I was comparing getting a refub vs one at amazon, and after adding apple care, calculating taxes, amazon rebate... the amazon NEW imac(24"+apple care) was only $60 more then a refub from apple (24"+apple care)
