Working on a friend's brand new mini he got last week. Installed latest version of MTR, Perian, VLC and HandBrake. I ripped The Wire, disk 4 I think, and got the video ts folders off it fine. When I load up HB it scans the titles fine and I select AVI and start it and then HB just crashes. I made sure everything is the latest version and I have no idea on what could be going wrong, any ideas?

Give the :apple:TV preset a try. It fixes some issues that i have had in the past, but they were in reguards to AAC 5.1. The :apple:TV setting is the only one that has the newer AAC 5.1 codec, when compared to .mp4

May I ask why you'd want an AVI file?

Yeah, don't bother with the AVI file in handbrake. Just do the appleTV preset and you'll be fine. They're not going to be supporting AVI much longer anyway and .mp4/.m4v files are becoming much more compatible across the board.
