I'm new to JB'ing, but just wanna say I'm loving every bit of it. The Evasion method worked flawlessly and I love opening my iPhone to capabilities that were never possible before. I must say every tweak so far has me impressed. I'm inclined to remain JBroken and can't really see myself returning to using Apple's stock iOS...sorry Steve & Tim!

Perhaps the more apropos phrase would be "The Wonderful Window of Jailbreaking", as the window only opens for a brief period of time, and then Apple closes it until the next window appears. Ahh, the ultimate joys (and occasional pains) of this never-ending cat & mouse game.
Well the JBing era has soon come to an end anyway. Well, for a while because Evaders just shot themselves in the foot by allowing Apple to fix the timezonescreephole in their JB.
Not really. If you do some looking around on line you'll find that the Evaders found a bunch of other exploits for 6.0. They decided to keep looking for lower risk bugs and the current JB is a result of stringing together five lower risk bugs.
The decision to do this was for precisely this reason. Apple is working on closing the lower risk bugs while the Evaders still have some other exploits held in reserve. I'm not saying in the future it will be easy (the Evaders don't think so either). Just that they still have some options.
Besides, what good is a jailbreak if you don't release it at some point, and once released, Apple decides which exploits to block. The hackers don't allow or disallow anything Apple does.

And i have been both in the past. Added to many tweaks, the phone spazed out and i was not sure what was causing it and i ended up restoring and lost my JB.
I am wiser now and more careful. Search for other folks on here that have used it, an i never add more than one new tweak at a time, and then spend some time with that tweak to see if if is going to cause any issues.
Unless Apple does something dramatic to iOS and makes it worth my while to update, I'm staying far away from updates because I'm extremely content with my jailbreak. Quite frankly, I could stay JBroken for a long time and not care about what Apple does with iOS unless it's something revolutionary. JBreaking moves the iOS platform into the future and keeps it current, while Apple moves painfully slow and prefers a more antiquated approach. Many elements of iOS are essentailly unchanged since 2007. I just wanna add, my battery life has been ok as well with JBreak despite whatever tweaks I've installed. I'm not too big on Winterboarding, and I believe that's a huge drain on battery.
Of course it's not Winterboard, per se, but whatever battery hogging mods you activate with it.
I was astonished that the JB devs blabbed all over the internet about exactly what cracks they found and in great detail. Pretty damn arrogant.

So are you eluding this to saying Apple doesn't have the talent to reverse engineer the jailbreak to find the exploits ?
Once the jailbreak sees public release, it is always just a matter of time before Apple patches these exploits.
And I for one, don't think the hacker's comments gave anything away. Given Apple's dismal record of finding exploits without a jailbreak community roadmap (the jailbreak tool itself), I doubt Apple will find nor intentionally patch any of the "saved" exploits (although they have been known to block unused exploits in the past without realizing they did so).

In responding to that particular statement, all I am saying is that the Evaders did not use, nor disclose some other exploits because they didn't want Apple to fix them and thus prevent any further jailbreaking. So they found lower risk exploits, knowing that Apple would ultimately fix those.
At least that's what I got out of this.

Besides that they didn't gave away all they exploits they used. They also didn't blab about it. Some research company posted a detailed analysis (and if they can Apple already has) in which they missed one of the exploits, at least according to i0n1c.
They have saved the best exploit and found others already, but i guess we already back to the "jailbraking is dead" mode for some people.
