You know the spiel. College kid. Wants a laptop.

Let me make it interesting however.

Last year when choosing a laptop it was between the powerbook g4 or the dell 9300. I did not like the powerbook g4 because the screen was too dim for me (this was before they enhanced it) and I figured the intel books were coming out soon so I opted for the 9300. It was better than my desktop stats wise (6800go, screen rez) so I got that with a 600 dollar off coupon. Came to about 1800.

NOW

As we all well know, dells are peices of poop. My dvd burner is running at 1/2 the speed and makes as much noise as a water buffalo (yes). I can also see the screen refreshing during a video or a game (60 htz). I absolutely hate it. I am going to San Francisco State during the summer and San Francisco has hills and i have a massive laptop for gaming? I don't think that's going to work.

NOW AGAIN

I want the new macbook pro. I hear apple is reliable. I am hoping it will last me for at least 4 years. I mean, I am a troll and have read that people are still using their g3s with no slowdown. That's awesome. So what I want to do is to get a new macbookpro. I do have the money for it but I want to sell my dell. My parents bought it for me though and I feel somewhat disrepsectful if I just sell it. I also don't want to do eBay because I wouldn't feel right if someone bought it and it had too many problems.

I am asking for help and opinions. Thank you for reading this far!

Hmm. This isn't a good time to buy a MacBook Pro, in my opinion. Unless you can fetch a lot for the Dell, I would use it a while longer. You won't have to feel guilty. Bide your time and save for a newer MacBook Pro.

It sucks in the short-term, but you can look forward to a more powerful and reliable laptop.
