hello everyone. so i bought a new iMac 27" roughly 2 weeks ago and i just opened it at first. so of course the first thing that i did was to put my new machine through the yellow tinge test.... and guess what... IT FAILED!
at least that's what i thought initially. but as i looked more and more i thought to myself, hmmm it CHANGES when i move my head from side to side and up and down. as i moved my head, the "yellow tinge" DISAPPEARED! i didn't just want my own opinion, so i asked someone else to come by and check it out. i asked her if both the bars looked the same, she said "NO!!" and then i told her to move her head around as i did, then i asked again. she said "ooooohhhhhhhhhhh" so it couldn't have been that my eyes were playing tricks on me.
i attribute the yellow tinge problem on viewing angles. the screen is so freakin huge that most people are not centered when they look at the screen and thereby creating a tinge along the bottom and sides. the yellow would switch from right to left and vice versa as i moved my head to the opposite side and disappearing the direction my head is going to.
this theory also falls in line with the 21.5" screens not sharing this problem because the screen isn't big enough for the person move their head around and notice the color changes.
maybe this phenomenon is unique to my machine. maybe it is the actual reason why people are seeing a tinge. maybe there are actual yellow screens out there. maybe it's all of the above! i want to hear what everyone has to say after they have tried moving their heads slowly from side to side and then up and down. do you see a difference in color? or is it still uniform?
waiting to hear from everyone
