In the distant future could anyone else see keyless entry/startup for cars integrated into the :apple: Watch?

It's a XX Thousand dollar car, and you are pondering about a 300 dollar gadget can operate the car.

Why not just build it into the car, and not tie it to any brand of gadget?

Why would it have to be tied to a brand? I'm sure Android Wear can support that sort of technology as well. It's really not different than keyless entry cars now that use the key fob's proximity to allow you access to the car. My Prius does this now and I'm sure the key fob cost a lot less than $300.

Who's talking about tying it to a brand of gadget? Things like Bluetooth and NFC are platform agnostic.

I can see future intigration easily for home automation... combo of NFC, wifi, bluetooth...

lock/unlock home front door
start car, unlock car
turn on lights in room you are in, off as you leave, hue lights, etc
TV on, home theater.... remote functions on your watch
NEST intigration, AC controls, automation perhaps based on your temp
computer wakes from sleep as you get within 5 feet of it.

...etc

Probably costs closer to $300 than you think if you get a genuine one.

I'm sure apple mentioned this functionality at the event with the BMW app - which can also give you directions back to the car and check the charge level. I'm sure tesla will follow suit and this is 1 more reason to go electric ! *Dislikes bulky keys*

Don't keyfobs use RFID though ? Maybe the NFC chip in the watch can do both modes since apple also mentioned being able to open hotel rooms with the watch.
