There HAS to ba a way...OSX leet, PLEASE help!

Ok, so I made a thread earlier only to discover that iTunes does not have a "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC" option for the iPhone. As I am about to purchase one, I'd like to fit as many songs that I want to listen to on it at a time (I'm coming from using a 60GB iPod)......SO, is there ANY Automator Workflow or Applescript or anything I could use to emulate this iTunes feature and have higher bit rate songs I want sent to my iPhone kicked down in bit rate? I mean, I KNOW there's a way. I'm just unfortunently not as leet in OS X as I would like to be....Anyone got any ideas?
