As I type this there is a small bug crawling around on the underside of the glass covering my iMac's screen (20" silver, black-bordered model).

I've tried tapping the screen to make the bug fall off, but it doesn't seem to care and just keeps crawling around.

Does anyone know how it got in there? How do I get it out?

I don't know the best way to get the bug out but I believe that Apple Care does not cover infestation.

That sucks . . . but the curious side of me would love a picture!

Well, it's gonna die eventually. Just hope it doesn't die on the LCD cause then you're gonna have a bigger more annoying problem.

youtube has some nice vids showing how to take off the glass on the new imacs. its actually looks quite easy.

I had one crawling around the inside the LCD of my 1st Gen MBP, but like an idiot I squashed it - it stayed there as a black dot for the rest of the time I had the machine...

Run a whole bunch of crap to keep the CPU load very high, have a bunch of movies play and whatever else and let it it run all night. This will heat the machine up and the bug will either get pissed and move or die.

The first ever computer bug was literal too. ;)

Actually if you read the article it says the term 'bug' was in use before the moth was ever found :p

Well, the entry ("First actual case of bug being found.") shows that the term was already in use before the moth was discovered

In discussing the origin of the term, the book notes that the term is

said to have originated in quadruplex telegraphy and have been transferred to all electric apparatus.

This thread is too funny..

I'm so sorry LOL

Hmm, just take suction cups, and wipe it out.

Make sure your in a room with the vents closed, damp towels on the closed vents and under the door, try to stay "Nude" or not have "clothy" clothes, sit in the room for about an hour to wait for the dust to settle

because my friend

Dust in your iMac

Is even worse... I have experience.

Sorry I couldn't take a picture, but my camera is broken.

It wasn't really that big -- like maybe 4 pixels -- but that it was moving made it very distracting.

I had no idea you could take the glass off. I would do that, but I haven't seen the bug for a while and I don't want to risk dust. I guess its body is laying somewhere in the black part of the glass.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Pics please. And yes I did take off my glass at one time because I had mineralization from tap water when I used to clean the screen with water.
