There is no such things as Fast Charging on the IPad Pro’s ...

I cannot believe people are so brainwashed by this.

The past IPads , including the current 9.7 Ipad, did/do NOT “normal charge” ... and the Ipad Pro’s (12 inch and 10.5 inch) do not fast charge with the appropriate accessory ...

The previous IPads including the current IPad 9.7 .... actually “UNDER CHARGES”

And the new Ipad Pros with additional accessory ... only “NORMAL CHARGES”

iPads have always under charged. If you had your brightness 50% - 70%, it would barely charge, and if you had the brightness over 70% ... it would actually DRAIN battery as you used it .. even when it was plugged.

Just because you can buy an extra accessory that makes your Ipad charge normally doesn’t mean its fast charging.

I have an Ipad that don’t use very regularly but when i pick it up, sometimes the battery is dead. I don’t even want to use it because i know i can’t actually use the Ipad and charge it at a decent rate at the same time. This is exactly why I refuse to buy the lower priced IPads even though I do admit they are at a decent price because these IPads and all IPads prior have a defective charging system by design ... from the very start.

Not sure what you're saying. I just watched an hour-long video on my Air 2 at 100% brightness, streamed over WiFi from a NAS, and listened to with Bluetooth earbuds. During that time, the Air 2 was plugged in and increased its charge level, not drained it.

You have a very special Ipad then. It is widely known that IPads at higher brightness settings and under load cannot keep up with charging. Many comments on these boards from the past about this ... it is hard for me to imagine you were not aware of this issue. I have been on my ipad for 5 hours off and on today, mostly on. I started with 5% battery because I rarely use my iPad. I am at 15% right now. It has been plugged in the whole time. Brightness is probably 40%. My original iPad mini suffered from same thing.

I think you missed my point. With the 29w charger, the new IPads now charge the way they ALWAYS SHOULD HAVE TO BEGIN WITH. That’s not fast charging ... that’s just normal charging. As is now, without 29w charger, they under charge. Apple has pulled a psychological trick on people who have become desensitized by the IPads underwhelming charging capabilities that have always existed, that this state ... has become the norm. And now, when they introduce a way to charge the IPad in the efficient way it should have been charging to begin with, they are calling it fast charging ... just because is faster then the crappy way it has always charged, when in fact, its just charging in a normal fashion that other devices charge while in use.

Well, what they should have done is a different story, and do agree here with you. But this doesn’t change the fact that they technically support fast charging. I mean how much faster can you go, 60W?

I've used my iPads (both the 4 and the 9.7 Pro) plugged in, with high brightness, and heavy draining games/apps, and they have always charged. I never saw either drop in percentage while plugged in with the included charger, even the 9.7 Pro with the 10-Watt charger.

My 1st gen. 12.9” iPad Pro would, when plugged in to a 10w or 12w charger, slowly lose charge when used at full brightness. At 50% brightness or below, it would slowly gain charge.

With the USB-C 29w charger, that is no longer the case. Charges quickly even in use at full brightness. Now, should Apple have included that in the box instead? Perhaps so.

OP you should not be allowing your iPad battery to go dead from not using. Just plug it in while you are sleeping. You do sleep don’t you?

I’m using the iPad 12.9 first gen and with the supplied charger. When watching YouTube or any video my iPad will charge while watching. And I’m usually above 70 % brightness as well.

My second gen slowly charges even while at full brightness and video conferencing, with the original charger. With the 29w, charging is unbelievably fast.

HOW DARE APPLE BE RESPONSIBLE TO THEIR PRODUCT AND LIMIT THE THERMAL BUDGET TO PREVENT BATTERY OVER HEATING DURING CHARGING!
