Do you need a Thermal Sensor when replacing an HDD? I have watched forums and some say you do and others say no. It seems very expensive for what it is. Owc inline Digital
Thermal Sensor HDD upgrade cable for iMac £44.50 UK.
It would be for 2017 5k iMac.

@Roxy.music : mind editing the post so it's not so shouty (oversized bold text)?

As for the question: we're not Apple tech support here - by that I mean that, just like the places you've been to before, the folk here will give their opinions.

None of it will probably answer the question to your level of satisfaction.

In addition, you've supplied zero detail - it would help if you could supply the model etc.

If you don't want your fans running at max speeds all the time then yes you need the inline sensor. but as @TiggrToo stated we don't have much information on what iMac you have and so on. also I second replacing the shouty capital letters with normal ones haha
