ThermalTrap.app = rooted? ? (!)

I was looking for DiskImageMounter.app, and when I found it, it was in the same directory as an app called ThermalTrap.app. My education caused me to take an interest in an app so-named.

Search (Duckduckgo) let me to a page that suggests I have been "rooted." Since the app is apparently not mentioned in these forums, and I have no relationship with anyone on the site that says I've been "rooted," I thought to ask users of this site, some of whom I know I can trust.

Is this a legitimate app, part of OS X, in which case I need not worry that it is located at

/System/Library/CoreServices/ ?

Or should I worry?

This is an application included in the OS. There's no indication of a security problem; the thread you reference has no verifiable information and smacks of paranoia.
If you haven't done anything with security configuration in your computer, nothing other than Apple can write to /System/Library/CoreServices anyway.

It's a legitimate app, part of OS X, and would display a warning about overheating, when the system calls it.
No worries necessary on that one.

Checked in a fresh OS X 10.10.5 install that I use for troubleshooting. The ThermalTrap.app is there, in Yosemite.
