What is the thickest card a sub-$1k inkjet or laser printer can handle without getting a jam? I’m looking to create designs on card, but the thickest I could find is Epson Presentation paper, which at 10.4 mil is too thin. I wanted something as thick as a postcard and would be looking to upgrade printers if someone could shed some light on paper handling through the various models.

I have no idea, but if it were me looking, I would hit the websites of the major Manufacturers and look at a few models in the price range, maybe dload a few specific PDFs and dig into the specs

I'd also hit the local mac shops as some of them may have a better idea as well

hope that helps

It varies greatly between printers - best you research on their websites or call up some sales centres.

Sorry I can't be of more help! Though, I would be interested to hear your findings when you get some :)

I tried to find this out on my printer and searched epson websites, they didn't really have specifics on this as I found very strange and would've thought they would specify this.
I've found it very hard to find any specialist card over 400gsm, only one for 400gsm at that. Found that very strange too as these days you should be able to get anything specific on net. Especially something so closely connected to computers/ printers. Post a decent specialist card supplier if you come across them :).

How about those inkjet printers that are capable of printing CD's and DVD's?

CD's and DVD's are most definitely as thick and as stiff as the thickest card stock you might want to print on.
