Just in case anyone here is using "Things"....v 1.1 just hit the app store. Syncing with the desktop version is lighting fast. This is now hands down the best iPhone GTD app in the app store.

+1 on that!!!!! To anyone who has been on the fence with this, it is now the killer app for me. I use it religiously on my mac. It is by far the most user friendly todo app out there. Plus, I have been very impressed with the developers!!

To add to my post..... This program actually, automatically syncs every time you open it on your iPhone (and lightning fast to boot). I was worried I'd have to give myself a reminder to sync every day. Not needed now. They have done this sync feature soooo right. I am very impressed!:D

Yea, it happened so fast I thought it failed for some reason!

Great update! Just needs Areas and Tags/Search and it will be an amazing mobile GTD app.

Sounds like it's worth it. I have so far tried everNote, ReQall and various other stuff that just are slow, annoying, requires location input, or simply requires too many taps.

Does this show reminders like iCal does? Or is that impossible? This is really a dealbreaker for me since I also forget to check my ToDo list all the time...

Please take the time to login and post positive reviews. When it was initially released everyone gave it 2-3 stars because of the badges/syncing. What a beautiful app now.

But dang, there's no Things PC version. It's driving me nuts the best Task apps only have Mac software to sync with.

Is there one I missed that does?

Does this integrate with iCal and AppleMail?

Yes, if you have the desktop version. I doubt any integration with Mobile App alone.

Re iCal, it looks like you can choose only one category (Today, Next, Someday, etc.) and one Calendar (Work, Home, etc).

Go get the free desktop version and play... I did and am now hooked and have purchased iPhone App and will purchase desktop version when officially for sale.

Like others have said...syncing is the Best Ever.

Has anyone used this and Omnifocus? Any comparisions ?

I have been trying to setup omnifocus syncing for a while now and it is a nightmare, I just want a simple sync between the phone application and the desktop application rather than deal with all this webdav crap.

I vastly prefer Things to Omnifocus, both on the desktop and iPhone. Much simpler to use, much better sync mechanism.

For those with the desktop version and setting it to sync with iCal, I recommend choosing "Next".

"ToDo" syncs with Toodledo and Remember The Milk :)

It does, but I much prefer Things' desktop application to Web apps for entering and viewing my to-do lists on my Mac, just like I'd rather use iCal than the MobileMe Web version for my calendar.

.

I downloaded the desktop version and bought the iPhone version so at worst I am only £6 down but so far this seems to cover the points I want the desktop/mobile combination to cover. The syncing is very seemless, would be nice to have a way to manually refresh/force sync rather than relaunching the iPhone app but so far it seems quite impressive.

The syncing was such a breeze to set up, omnifocus really needs to change the way it does syncing.

will spend some more time with Things to see if it covers the more general points that I use.

Yep I am super happy with this update. For those of you thinking about "Things" make sure you visit their website and watch the videos. Everything is very intuitive, but the video will show you just how easy it is. For those wanting to know how OmniFocus compares.....The best way to describe it is as follows: OmniFocus requires you to think like a Academic in order to understand....Things (desktop) has all the same features and more, the difference is Things uses common terms and thought processes for the everyday person.

And the badge icon rocks...

How doe the sync for Things Touch work exactly? I'm assuming the iPhone and Mac have to be on the same WiFi network and then it uses some bonjour magic to partner & sync?

I'm undecided.

I use ToDo now, and sync with Toodledo.

I think I like Things better, but it doesn't yet sync between multiple computers.

Since Toodledo is Web-based, obviously it's in sync everywhere I go.

I think I'll wait it out until they get the multi-computer sync going, just to see how much work is involved in syncing. If it's something I need to remember to do myself, it does me little good.

I much prefer the sync to the cloud method with ToDo/Toodledo, it makes you wonder why there just isn't a Mac native client for Toodledo? Then I would be in GTD heaven! :) Although even now with the webapp I am quite liking the combo, it's a pity though as I like the looks of Things Touch, I'm just not a fan of the sync method as my home PC is a MacBookPro and I often don't have it hooked up at home to sync.

Cloud storage is the holy Grail of this stuff but it's also a tricky problem and much more expensive. Given that Cultured Code is such a small team and still haven't generated any revenue for Things desktop, it makes sense to handle sync locally. Bonjour comes for free as part of the SDK so this is the obvious initial move

I bought Things yesterday. Here are my initial disappointments:

1. If there's a way to schedule recurring tasks, I can't find it.

2. I'd like to see an overview view. That is, a list of all the tasks, be they scheduled, today, next, someday, etc.

3. I would also like to see the home icon have he little red number circle displaying how many items are due today.

Am I missing something? Does Things do these things, and I just can't figure out how?

Does the desktop app have the little red circle number, that says how many items are due today?

Thanks.

it does, go into settings (as in settings on the homescreen), then scroll down to things

yes
