Things Apple can buy: A fun list of "just because we can"

So, what could Apple do with all their cash? Buy Ferraris for all their employees? Fry a zillion eggs? Dictate a small country? Help free the U.S. of debt?

Although Apple could help the US get out of debt, I definitely don't think they should. I would be happy when(if) we get out of debt, but why give money to a kid who doesn't know how to spend it wisely?

Understandable, but all the points I made above weren't serious. I would be appalled if Apple did any of what I suggested, but I guess the Ferraris would be great.

Apple only has a mere 50-75 Billion dollars ... It would take all of Apple's dough x 2,000 to free the US of Debt.

So true. People think Apple has a lot of cash, but it's very small in comparison to what the US government spends.

For example, Apple has only enough money to fund the current war in Afghanistan for about nine months or so.

Or they could spend $80 billion to help buy and operate three nuclear missile subs over their lifetime. (The Navy's planning to buy a dozen.)

It also took Apple many years to gather $80 billion. Heck, people in the US and Europe together spend that much just on pet food every five years

Apple could build themselves an extravagant "spaceship campus". Oh wait, they're already doing that.

Okay, for $80 billion they could buy every man, woman and child in New York City, 15 Samsung Galaxy Nexus phones each. How's that for crazy spending?

Or they could pull an Oprah, and get about 90% of those same New Yorkers a brand new base model Hyundai Accent or Nissan Versa. Of course, most of them don't have a driver's license to be able to use it, though
