Although voice-to-typing understands "knit cap" Siri mishears me with the following...

"and it"
"nick"
"net"

I could not get Siri to understand the words "knit cap".

Unless there's already a thread for this you can direct me to, would be interesting to see other responses regarding things Siri surprisingly doesn't understand.

:)

Record yourself saying knit cap and put it online do we can hear it. Without knowing what you sound like it is hard to be of nuch assistance.

What's wrong with hat?

Not to single out the OP, but I'm really tired of reading what Siri can't do rather than what she can.

As I stated in the OP, speak-to-type correctly writes "knit cap" when I speak the words.

Knit cap works fine for me...I think Siri understands better when you put the phone to your ear.

Now I'm having a heck of a time with it understanding German first and last names...first names are somewhat easier for her, but last names like "schlabrendorff" or "guderian" are another story! I even tried switching Siri to German with no luck.

PS...this was a good laugh too... Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg....Siri thought I was asking her how to make muffins! haha

I can speak reasonable German and I too have trouble understanding German names.
Siri is just a little girl, she will improve her skills over time.

I have to change my accent totally to get it to understand SPAIN instead of typing up SPEAN

Ask "What's the weather like in Spain" and see if it happens you too

Wait, you pronounce 'spain' as 'spean'???

'ai' is never pronounced as 'ea'. The former is 'ay' whereas the latter is a long 'ee' like:

bean
clean
mean
dean
dream
beam
teen
meme
lean
green
keen
queen

VS

spain
pain
rain
cane
lane
bane
tame
lain
crane
vein
main
stain
vane
sane
grain
vain

I was demoing Siri and asked "google search for Buenos Aires"?

It could not understand me but...

When I asked "google search for buenos aires, Argentina ?" she understood me.

I have a contact, 'Aaron' in my list. Siri tends to think I said 'Erin'.

I often have to use Aaron's full name to get Siri to respond correctly.

But, I understand the confusion.

Have you never heard anyone from Ireland speak? Stop being a myopic prick and try contributing to the conversation instead of...whatever it is you were trying to do here.

I'm from Northern Ireland too and Siri understood me perfectly when I asked what the weather was in Spain. I have it set to the American voice.
