1. What happens when you get a txt (SMS)? Does it display in the screen straight away, and can you turn this option on or off (requiring you to go and select the txt to read it)?

2. If you miss a call or get a txt while you're away from your phone, is there an indication of these on the main screen when you press the home/wake button, without having the unlock iPhone and check the home screen? I think I saw a screenshot that said "John Appleseed Missed Call" on the unlock screen...do you also get this for missed txts and calendar reminders?

3. When you get a txt when the screen's off, does it briefly turn on the screen to display the message, then turn off again straight after? Does the same apply to calendar reminders etc.?

4. Can you create a new SMS "conversation" with the SAME person, basically grouping all your messages by subject/day etc.? I take it iPhone doesn't automatically create new conversations by day or timeframe, so if you don't "clear" your conversation with a particular person, it'll just be never-ending until you start a fresh one?

Thanks!

when you get a txt it comes up as a pop up message saying view or ignore, no matter where you are at on the phone. They other two I'm not sure as I have not gotten a txt message while in either of those states.

I know the first time I turned my phone on once it got activated I had 2 text messages there sitting for me. I assume you'd probably have to use the slider and unlock the phone first. I'd also assume it lights up when you get a message, but it hasn't happened to me yet..so I don't know.

OK cool, thanks. Does the whole txt display in the screen then, along with who it's from? Can you turn this popup option off?

Not the whole txt just the first sentence or two, yeah you just press ignore then you get a red circle with a 1 in it on the SMS icon

Thanks. Can you fully turn the popup feature off though, so if you get a txt it just comes in the background and doesn't take over the phone?

Also, does it say who the txt is from when it pops up?

And is SMS limited to 160 chars (1 message), or unlimited characters?!

Thanks!

enjoy this is from when you wake it up after it was asleep, you can turn sounds off to the phone but not the popup for the txt.

Great, thanks!

So I guess that changes to "Mom Missed call (2)" and adds more people to the list, etc.?

Can you verify if you can set the phone to vibrate for a text message and calendar reminder, while in RING mode, as well as silent mode?

now just figure out for me why my iPhone doesn't check for new email on its own even the cehck every 15 minutes is selected? I have to wake it up, go to mail, and check for new mail myself to receive mails that I got like 30 minutes in the past....why oh why

I noticed that too - I think its because in its locked/sleep mode it disconnects from WiFi to save battery, and thus no email. I dont think it goes over edge instead either.

Does it definitely disconnect from Wifi when you Sleep it?

This would suck if you're on MSN for instance on Meebo (or iChat when it finally comes), and you put yourself "Away" for a bit...you shouldn't have logout and back in again.

then what is the point? regardless in any mode blackberry will push ur email and beep loud noise so you will KNOW you got an email....sigh this is not very business friendly i think

Can someone answer the other questions for me, and also confirm that you can set the iPhone to vibrate for txt messages and calendar alerts, while in RING mode as well as silent?
