So far I have had luck with the following without the need for any adapters:

Bose QC2 headphones. They plug in fine to the MBA unlike the iPhone w/o its adapter. They actually, when pointing back towards the user, are flush almost like the MBA's mag safe power on the other side. If you wanted to, you could have the cord going straight up on the Z axis but would get just the slightest bit of rub, but you can do it if you needed to.

Verizon UM150 AirCard
This will plug into the USB port and give about a millimeter of clearance from the hard surface the computer is on. You can't angle it back at all at that point, but it will plug in without a USB extension. I might end up using the USB extension/power doubler cord that came with it just in case if I'm at a desk or something. Still very unsightly sticking out of the otherwise gorgeous machine, but what can you do?

Those were two killers for me, so I figured I'd post my experience so far on day 3 since I figured there might be others wondering the same things.

I heard some fuss initially about the headphone jack but every headphone I have fits perfectly... It is not like the iPhone.

The USB cards that use the "Y" do that because they require more power than 1 USB port can provide - Even with a single high power USB port I don't think it would work. Given you do graphical work anyway - a MacBook is probably the better choice. (Want to buy one!! :) )
