ok. I got my phone replaced because of wifi problem (most likely overheating) but I learned a couple things.

-they won't transfer the information from the iphone to the new one for you.
-upgrade your phone now if you haven't already. Otherwise they'll upgrade there in store which they did with me. If the wifi starts working again (which for me it didn't) you might get screwed if it's just temporary = 1 more trip to store.
-Flashing your phone instore will totally wipe it's data.
-your new phone won't be retail. most likely refurbished
-you'll lose your screen protector.
-after you replace the phone, make sure u test wifi, less you'll have to run to the store again.
Backup the below, you'll have to restore it yourself.
-Make sure contacts, calendar, etc or backed up.
-Make sure your pictures are backed up, itunes does not do this in windows systems. Genius B guy said you'll have to use the microsoft camera wizard.

Yeah, what'd you expect?

They won't give you a repair. It's for you benefit. They give you a refurb, and then they send in your phone to be refurbed.
Or you can mail your phone to Apple Care, and then when they get it, they'll mail you a refub.

When I pay for premium goods i expect premium service. Generally, i expect them to transfer contacts as even tmobile and verizon and sprint stores will do this for you.

It is impossible for them to transfer your contacts for you because they cannot access them. They're not saved on your SIM card nor on their server.

If you want your contacts back instantly after having your phone replaced, then get MobileMe.

Your phone syncs to your computer. This ensures that you always have your data backed up there for your to sync with.

Of course you're going to lose your screen protector - you got a new phone.

I'm not sure why you expected them to perform magical operations on your phone. You should be happy they replaced it for you without a hassle.

nonsense. They don't bother to.

verizon can do it even with non smart phones.

Mobileme cost $99/year. google will sync contacts + calender for free.

new but refurbished. They should replace it since it cost less than 50 cents to make.

read post about premium service.

I consider 4 hours of my time a hassle.

Backing up takes a few seconds. Restoring can take some time. It's not hard at all to backup at home, which should be automatic, anyway.

Why would it be better customer service to hold up their techs for 30 minutes to restore your phone? You're going to plug it in when you get home, anyway.

Some people just want to complain.
