Yes I love ultraportables, and no I don't need an optical drive when I'm on the go.

I would love an 11 inch wide screen model where the optical drive would connect via firewire or usb 2.0

I could keep the optical drive at home, and have my sub 4 pound tiny beauty with me at all times.

The processor should be very very slow, I'm talking ultra low voltage core 2 duo chips which are due out by the end of the year. Keep the battery life to atleast 6 hours.

Speculation aside now, how many of you would want something smaller than 13 inches?

Why don't you post in one of the many threads exactly like this one, rather than create your own that clutters up the Forum?

Not trying to be too harsh, but there's a search function for a reason.

Right side of wrong
i might be interested in one smaller than the 13". but i would need an optical drive though. and it'd have to have a high resolution as well. but i know IBM [whatever the new name is] has smaller ones with high resolution

I'm pretty sure that we will see a <4 pound Apple notebook without internal optical drive and >6 hour battery life until February 2007. I personally would prefer a bigger than 11 inch screen though, say 15 inch. Had a 12 inch Dell X200 for >4 years now and it's nice for doing quick things, but hard to work on for a while. I also bet by the time the minority of people will miss internal optical drives.

Time will tell.

An ultraportable Apple laptop along those lines would be pretty cool DevilsRejection. :)

That said, I am perfectly content to lug my 15.4" MacBook Pro around with me. Still, I would not mind having another more portable laptop for some of my excursions. :)
