So I’m receiving a XS Max today. I’ve been on iOS 12 beta and my X is on 12.1 beta. Will I not be able to restore from backup now? There’s a lot of stuff that I need.

I've never tried this so I don't know if it would work:

1. Setup the XS Max as a new iPhone.
2. Install beta profile and update it to 12.1. beta.
3. Go into Settings and erase everything so it reboots as a new phone.
4. Setup the XS Max by restoring from a backup.
5. Install beta profile.

Like I said, no idea if that would work but it's what comes to my mind.

Edit: I would at least try to restore the 12.1 backup to it first, but yeah, it probably wouldn't work.

I’ll give it a try. Don’t know when my phone updated to 12.1! I’m so dumb.

What the other guy said will work. I had the issue last year when I first got an 8+. Its part of the reason I didn't bother with the beta program this year. Was too much of a headache last year when the new phone showed up.

Sweet guess I’ll have a long night
