So, machine has been making some clunky noises on boot and wake from sleep, only vey occasionally, to start, then more frequently. Had my regular full system backup run last night, and left it running till it finished...

The original boot drive the system shipped with - the 650gb Hitachi 7500rpm took 13 & 3/4 hours to backup ~35GB, and now Drive DX's short self-test has been running for about 30 mins, and the machine sounds like there's a little person trapped inside, banging on the wall trying to attract attention.

So I'm going to bet we've identified which drive is making the startup clunking :p
