Heres my brief story!
Bought a 12.9 256 wifi pro. Loved it. Bit pricy but hey thats apple for you. No bend.
Found out about the bends and how they happen over time, rang up apple and they told me if it does, its on me and would have to pay for it
Now, this thing never left my desk, I got severe OCD and none of my apple products sans my iMac 27 inch and apple watch, 2 home pods and apple tv, all have otterbox defender cases on them (my watch has another case on it)
Anyhow, after i found that out i promply returned my ipad pro and pencil, and bought me 3 2018 Ipads. 2 32 gigs for christmas gifts for my mother and friend, and a 128 gig for myself (all for a really good sale price btw)
(they both dont need that much storage anyway).
Anyhow im loving the standard ipad this year. I paid 388 total for my 128 gig off amazon (its now even cheeper, dam it, and i paid 269 plus tax for the 2 32 gigs)
I love using it, athough i do miss the nicer features like better cameras and the wireless charging pencil.
My question is this.
Come June-July depending on what they anounce at WWDC (im preying for new imacs) do you think they will have fixed the bending issue?
I doubt they would put out a press release or anything, but realistically do you think they will quietly switch over to a stronger aluminum or re enforce weak points?
I want to get one again and of course by then the otterbox cases will be avalable, but do u think they will fix the issue by then?
Im not expecting them to be unbreakable. I mean laws of physics still apply and regardless i am putting it in the otterbox case i plan on buying right along side of it!
Is this a realistic expectation or am i just kidding myself?
For now the 2018 budget model will do for what i need it to do but i rather have the pro model down the road if the issue is fixed.
Thoughts?
