Hi all, im new to the forum and soon to be new to apple/mac..

Im sure this has been asked before, i checked the FAQ section and didnt see anything as well as did a google search and there is alot of out dated stuff.

My question is... Should i wait for the next version iphone?

Im ready to make the switch from PC to MAC.. and blackberry to iphone.

Im right now using a dell and id like to get a macbook but first im going to get an iphone.

I dont want to be stuck with an old one right away though.
Is there a pattern to apples releases? Ive seen that apple usually debuts products @ the WWDC? Ive also read that they usually debut new iphones in june but that has come and gone with nothing too spectacular.

Is the iphone 3gs the iphone until next june?

Now i know no one "knows" but im sure the experienced "mac junkies" can at least make an educated guess.
I just dont want to buy one tomorrow and a month from now a new one will come out.

thanks for any help or advice!

The current one is fine. Waiting will just make you loose 1 year of your time.

The iPhone has been updated yearly during WWDC. So its very safe to assume a new revision of it won't come until next June/July. Also, if anything in the iPhone does get updated, it will just be the storage space. And that won't happen anytime soon.

No problem.

thanks, yeah im just worried that if i bought one in the next day or so that an iphone 4g or something crazy would come out. lol

There's always the risk that something better will be just around the corner, but you don't want to be always waiting for the next model. I say go for it, the next one is probably a long way off anyway.

even if the next one does come out in June or July next year, there's no point in waiting, because there's a good chance there's gonna be one after that, so you might as well get this one. and if you're like me, you'll get this one and the the next one.

and the next one, and the next one

Buy the current one, it's really a fantastic phone. I bought the first one once it was 'unlockable' (I'm in one of those countries where mr.iPhone isn't available  ) and loved it.

I just switched from the first 8giger to a brand new 32GB one; it's just phenomenal. Apple usually updates its phone each year, the 2G to 3G leap wasn't justifiable for me, the 2G to 3GS leap was :p.

There's no point in waiting, get it now, trust us, you'll love it.

I feel your pain, well my wallet does anyways lol.

Considering the 3GS just came out about 2.5 months ago you still have about 10 months before the next iPhone is speculated (however, most likely) to be released. Personally, I think that's enough time to justify the purchase of a new one when it comes out, however I'm the type of guy who has to have the latest and greatest of everything and is willing to spend the extra $$ to get it (I like to spoil myself, what can I say lol).

We're only about two months into the current model, and who knows what the next one will add? If you wait until next summer, you might as well wait until the next...or the next...or..

I think it's been made pretty clear.. Get it. You won't regret it. Just take care of it cause if it breaks, then that's where the problems really start.

Well said.
And if you wait for AT&T to roll out LTE within the next year forget it.
Most likelly we'll all be stuck with 3G if we're lucky and others still with Edge and GPRS in some areas.
Dont think cause tech evolves fast so do wireless providers.

Get the iPhone now...

I'd get the iPhone now. No sense in waiting for the next iPhone there will always be another iPhone.

What is nice about the iPhone compared to say a Blackberry is that there are not buttons fixed in plastic so as they upgrade the software you'll get the new software features...
