i live in australia, but the iphone is so much cheaper in america. i was thinking about buyng 1, but i dont know how to unlock it, or if it would work with my current "3" simcard. Any help would be grealy appreciated

You can't buy one in the US without a permanent address and social security number (i think), also your locked into a contract which you would have to cancel, also you cannot unlock any iphone that ships with 3.1. Also iphone warranties are not international so any problems you have with the phone will not be resolvable.

Your better off just biting the bullet and going to Apple.com/au and buying a fully unlocked phone for 1050$ for the 32gb, probably be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks but would it count if my uncle worked/lived in DC? also, are there any other extra fees?

Well if your uncle worked in DC it would work but it would be really under his name, your warranty wouldnt work in Australia too. Your uncle would also be paying for the 2 year contract which you are locked into but hes not even using the phone...and in the end you'll pay between 2500-3000.

In the end just get a factory unlocked from online itll be much cheaper in the long run and you can use it around the world without having to worry about updating

CAn i still jailbreak/unlock it tho?

Yes it doesn't matter how you bought it you can always jailbreak it. If you know someone in America with an AT&T account, you can just give them $700 to get you a no-contract price on the phone .That way their contract won't be affected, and your uncle won't have to make an AT&T account in his name. Then you can take the phone back home without you.

Dayum =[ i was going 2 america 2 buy 1 4 cheaper... now it seems like there is no point, and ill get an itouch instead. How much does it cost 4 itouch?
