Well yesterday my gateway laptop shut off, and wouldn't turn back on. When I tried to turn it back on it sparked, so I called gateway and it will take 3 weeks to send it in and fix. In the meantime I was thinking about getting a iMac. I'm not sure if I should get the 1GB one or 2GB ram one. I never had a mac before and not sure if more ram would process stuff better. Wanting to install Adobe Design cs3 suite, so would the 20-inch: 2.66GHz be best for me?

Thank you!

Yeah, the processor speed should be fine for you. The more ram the better usually, especially with Cs3.

I'd recommend buying the stock configuration from apple then buying ram from another company and then installing it yourself, you'll save quite a lot of money that way.

It really all depends on what you want it for. You mentioned CS3, again it depends on what it is used for - if you plan to run lots of graphics programs etc you may want the bigger screen, bigger processor and bigger RAM. Unless you are doing top-end stuff the one you mentioned (20", 2.66ghz) with 1gb RAM should be fine. Come and join the mac revolution!

edit - take JG271's advice on RAM. Sounds sensible.

Ok, cool.
Thanks for the replys!

I'll get 20-inch: 2.4GHz with 1gig or ram, then purchase more ram if needed from ebay.

Thanks again! Much appreciated :)
