Thinking about getting the iPhone: Few Q's

So i'm thinking about getting the iPhone, though may have to hold out till June-ish when the next iPhone comes out but was wondering on some simple, basic questions:

1. I send a bunch of txt messages a month, i'll probably have to get the unlimited txt plan which i think is $20 a month. My question is w/ MMS; most of my messages are photo/video messages to friends and am wondering if any photos/videos i send to someone say on the Verizon network wil be able to receive my messages and vice-versa?

2. I'm not too sure about the data plans, but can only guess i may need the highest tier plan. I heard somewhere online that 1GB a month of use is ridiculously high, though to me that sounds kinda low. Then again, i'm guessing the iPhone doesnt use as much as a Mac cause its using megabits and not megabytes. Then I also heard that the unlimited data plan for the iPhone isn't really unlimited but in actuality a 5GB monthly cap. So can only guess thats way too much, or is it? I can only guess watching YouTube movies, downloading apps and streaming Pandora all day would eat away a bunch of data..

I like that AT&T offers rollover minutes therefore would get the lowest 450 monthly minutes plan so am wondering what the lowest monthly price plan would be?

450 minutes+unlimited txt+data plan....$70? a month?!

Plus, i'd love to only do a 1 year contract. not 2. Anyway around this? anyway?

$70?? no way.

450 min (40) + data (30) + txt (20) = 90 without any discounts.

Yeah $70 a month is a wet dream. More like $100, budget that.
iPhone ... pretty damn worth it. I did not care about my phone until the iPhone tbh. Short of going the Droid + Verizon route I dunno what's better.

Fixed rate plans for sure. If you're going for unlimited texts, then the $90 + taxes,etc. is accurate. I don't text as much, so am at $5/mo. for 200 texts, making it $75 + taxes. still quite a bit to pay.

Most folks I know who use iphones are surprised at how little data they actually use in a given month.

The most important question when it comes to pricing: What country are you located in? The last time I checked, at&t only has an unlim'd data plan. Either way, I'd be effed with a 1GB cap. I stream via the Sirius app when I'm at work. Depending on my hours worked in a day and a 15 minute fetch schedule for my emails, I can use almost 500-750MB a day.

Yes. Although some of have said they have had problems.

There is only one data plan, unlimited. It's hard to use more than 100 MB a day.

The OP appears to be from the U.S. There isn't a 1GB cap, and the OP correctly notes that AT&T's "unlimited" is actualy 5GB. As I understand it (and what do I know?), it's a soft cap. A rare transgression above will not result in any action, but if the subscriber is repeatedly above that line action will be taken (what that action is, I've no idea).

Android is going to be to the mobile community what Linux was to big business, a HUGE cost saver for those willing to take the risk! Apple will suffer as did IBM and HP when Linux started it's popularity, but they'll survive, don't hate on the idea of open Source, we as consumers benefit, so don't defend the devil. Try maybe supporting a company that is embrassing the opensource philosophy
