Thinking about selling my AppleTV and getting a Mini

Hi, can anybody on these forums honestly say that their hacked appletv can honestly play ripped DVD Content?(ripped ISO or video_ts files)

I appreciate all the help and effort with encoding but when you have a library of over 1,000 dvds i cant possibly imagine taking all that time to transcode. I figured a mini with plex will do the trick. (rippping a DVD only takes 5 or 10 minutes)Ive tried hacking the appletv with atvflash but the dvd rips do not play back without stuttering. It is just buggy. If anybody can post how they do this without any hiccups I believe this will be a tremendous benefit to these forums.

I used ATVFlash to hack ours and use XMBC to play video TS file from over 100 of our dvds that I've ripped to an USB hard drive so far and they all play fine. I only get an occasional stutter when changing the volume in XMBC with the apple remote, other than that they play perfect.

Ripping does save a lot of time and effort compared to transcoding.

You know thats the only thing I didn't try,xbmc. I tried NitoTv and that was a Fail, sapphire didn't work either and the "Atv Files" video would stutter also.

I will give it one more try and reinstall xbmc and see what happens.

I have over 90 DVD's on my ATV that I ripped using DVDRemaster and Fairmount. DVDRemaster using the Video_TS file. The process takes about an hour per DVD and DVDRemaster gives you several options of which format you want to put it in including ATV format. It works great for me, although I am running into problems with newer DVDs that have better copyright protection.
