Hello, so I love the ML band, but the magnetic clasp portion which is a brushed stainless steel scratches easily in my opinion.

I have thought about polishing it with Mother's metal polish to remove the scratches or to polish to a more of a mirrored finish rather than brushed steel.

Thoughts?

Bad idea. A mirror finished will show ANY blemishes. I would recommend getting a very fine nail block (this is what I use for my link) and then brush the steel lightly in the right direction to get rid of any damage. And THEN polish it lightly with mothers or cape cod clothes to restore the shine. That will restore the nice brushed effect.

That's the thing too, I think i'd actually prefer a mirror finish there anyways. I don't mind having to polish it here and there. Would mother's polish even accomplish what I want to do?

Probably not. You would have to use a very fine sandpaper to remove the brushed effect. Personally it would be too much of a PITA considering you'd have to polish it so often as the mirrored finish will end up like an old iPod every could of weeks. Not great for the clasp in the long run.

I don't think the mothers is strong enough to give you a mirrored finish anyway on the clasp. I may be wrong, but it's design to be used on polished steel. I've experimented on brushed steel with it and didn't get any results. Granted, I only did it for a little bit so I might not have done it long enough. I didn't see any change. Works great though on mirrored finishes

Well if you do try it let us know with some photos? I doubt polish will restore brushed looked from the scratches. Getting to a mirror finish really isn't all that hard. Just go from 200 grit up, wet sand, and up the density bit by bit. Since it's a flat surface, it's even easier. Just do it against a flat surface while sanding.
