Long time no post but I am still alive, cancer sleeping for now & my OG iPad Air 2 is getting long in the tooth. I considered the Pro but it’s large, too large to comfortably carry to chemo. Also considered the base iPad but 32GB of storage isn’t enough & screen gap concerns me. Thinking a 64GB Air would be perfect! A 10.9 inch screen, snappy processor!

I use my iPad everyday, will probably get a keyboard for it later & the Pencil. What do you guys think? Husband offered to put $400 towards my purchase as my Xmas gift.

Been thinking the same thing for somewhat similar issues but not sure if it would be a downgrade or a decent compromise from my second generation 12.9 iPP (512G/LTE)

Would be losing the large Pro Motion screen but would have a nice (hopefully) upgrade in performance for the apps I have.

I would also lose half the storage as well.

Still unsure if I want to take that step ?

Are people already making covers for an unreleased iPad? Wow! ?

Of course. If cases and covers for devices weren’t made and sold in advance, everyone would be walking around with unprotected devices for a while, and many wouldn’t be comfortable with that. Case makers get the exact measurements in advance, and in this case, the Air 4’s dimensions and camera bump are virtually the same as the 2018 11” Pro, so as long as it wouldn’t cover the power button, any case for that iPad will fit this one.

Glad you’re keeping well, and YES, Get that iPad! If I hadn’t already sprung for an iPad Pro 11, I’d be joining you. The form factor is fantastic, and it looks like a brilliant upgrade.

Enjoy!

Pulled the trigger! 64GB Air in sky blue, 2 yrs Apple care, a leather case & an adapter so I can use wired ear buds for now. Very excited! :) Merry Christmas ? to me ? My son will get my Air 2 with a new case & I will let him pick out some games for the new Air so we can share it together ?

My devices don’t leave their boxes without a screen cover! Still feeling a bit guilty, so many people are without work & struggling ? It has been so long since I had some new Apple goodness though. Husband paid for half of it and I will continue to donate to worthy causes. I will also hold onto my iPhone XR for another year.

I hear you. I've been very fortunate to be able to work from home and not lose any income during the pandemic. I don't splurge on much, even during "normal" times, but a new device every now and then is the one major purchase that I treat myself to. I've also been donating to various charities on a regular basis because I know that so many people are in serious financial trouble right now. I don't want to preach, but I do hope that everyone who's buying a new iPad or iPhone right now appreciates how fortunate we are to be able to do so, and considers also donating to those in need.

Also, keep kicking cancer's A$$! I hope that one day we're all rid of that damn disease forever!

Hello beautiful! The new Air sounds like a solid upgrade from your Air 2 (which I also have).

One could argue for the Pro 11 since it isn’t much more than the Air, but the Pro may be overkill for your needs unless you use graphics-heavy apps. Plus, you can put the difference towards a pencil and/or case. You should be able to find the pencil for around $100 between now and Christmas.

Cheers!

I get Apple gift cards as a credit card reward, saving them for the pencil or ear buds. I picked up a smart folio & Apple Care today.

I think it will be a great upgrade. I have an iPad Air 1 bought in 2014 and well past time for an upgrade. Have ordered and expect to see it on 28th October. Regarding keyboards, my granddaughter has had two Logitech keyboards on her Gen 6 iPad. both had key tops fall off as did many in her class at school. I convinced her Mum to buy a Brydge Keyboard and she loves it. Have just received mine which is sitting there waiting for my new iPad Air to arrive. Also have a Brydge Keyboard on the way for Grandsons iPad Gen 8. So my advice is to consider Brydge and ask around what others think of them. I feel they are well worth considering.
All the best with your Tech decisions. They can be fun deciding. I wish you that you remain cancer free and regain full health.
