The quote below is lifted from a tweet on X...any idea if this is a thing...I have
not seen it discussed here and nothing ever gets past this community.

"If you’re thinking of buying a new MacBook or iMac, DON’T. The geniuses
@apple shipped their new hardware with an old OS and no option of updating it.
So if your current Mac has the current OS, you won’t be able to transfer your files
to your new Mac. What a monumental cockup."

Thanks...I checked it out....I am sure this will be addressed quick but it is annoying.

I am curious why you refer to it as a "non-issue"....I think it is an issue, no?
Or am I being too critical?

The simple explanation for this is that they were planning to release the M3 chips, and the M3 MacBook Pro/iMac back at WWDC, however delays meant they had to wait till now.

They (the M3's stuck on Ventura) were shipping with 13.5, which was released in July, a month after WWDC, which could have been when they were meant to start shipping.

Don't get me wrong, it is certainly annoying, however it isn't that big of a deal since Ventura is still supported, and Apple will have a fix out very soon (IIRC some people already have Sonoma on their M3's).

It’s already addressed. Any of these computers which shipped with 13.5 can be updated to 13.6.2 or 14.1.1. If a user is trying to migrate data from a newer operating system, the computer will prompt to install the update in the migration process.
