Not sure why you need to upgrade? For most people this upgrade is not necessary. But if you have some specific need or just want the latest stuff and have cash to burn why not. Honestly I would at least wait for 2020 refresh.

Quite a step up, if the programs contemplated benefit from an extra 4 cores.
 
Forget the benchmarks, as the others have said, what’s your use case that needs the marginal real world gains? You may well have one but otherwise it is a lot of $ to shell out. I was toying with a i9 2019 to trade in my i7 2017 for a while ago. But I just could not justify it for light home-working and amateur Lightroom which is a breeze on the 2017...
