Sooo, I'm finally going to jump on the ipod bandwagon.

I'm going to be traveling a lot and would like to take my music with me.

I'm considering getting the large Ipod classic, to connect in my car.

Here's the problem,...I've been reading about the sixth generation classic having sound quality issues and this is certainly a concern for me.

I don't want to purchase something that sounds subpar, and be dissappointed.

Thoughts? Comments?

No Problems here.
It's a good bargain as you can store a lot of music on it.
Go for it.

My classic has been great to me, and even with my iPhone I still find great use for it and still revert to it at times, no trouble here.

it is worth buying go and buy it.

I love mine. I still feel like the touch screen of the ipod touch is still too gimicky and not functional enough to justify the price. The ipod classic's usability is excellent. Tried and true.

word is the ipod classic is going to be phased out because Apple does not want to use HDD's anymore.

Yeah - I'm kind of thinking the iPod Classic is going to be taken out behind the barn and silently put down.

Maybe they'll squeeze another year of life out of it with a price cut to $199. But I wouldn't expect any significant capacity or feature upgrade.

What are they going to replace it with!!??!?

What else could I use to fit over 60GB's of music on?

This is nothing more than specualtion from people on this board with nothing solid to back it up.

On topic, I have a 160 GB classic and I love it. I recommend it for your uses.

Hmmm, looks like ebay is the only place for one of those now.

once the iPod Touch gets to a reasonably cheap price with 64GB in it, i'll def buy that to fit all my music library on it.

but right now, i'm goin strong with my regular iPod ;)

I think we'll see one last generation of the iPod classic, but will switch from a 120 GB single-platter drive to a 160 GB single-platter drive and possibly get the same menu display system used on the 4G iPod nano.

Come September 2010, the iPod classic will finally be replaced by a 128 GB iPod touch.

Wonder if I can snag a 160 off of ebay....then again...is that even a smart idea?

The 160GB is chunky as anything. I'm not someone that loves Apple 'cause everything's super thin, but I did stop and stare when I first saw one. This isn't exactly a problem as such, especially not if you keep it in your car.

Do it! I still have my 30gb video from 2006 and I love it.

Same :) They're sturdy things as well. Mine is an iPod that has clearly seen life, especially since it skidded along the pavement face down last year.

Yeah. It'll be in my vehicle the majority of the time. Is the 160 bigger than the 120 in physical size?

I have the 160gb and love it. The only time it comes out of the car and into the house is to update the music. My only problem is I am running out of space. I wish they would come out with a 500gb.
