Hi

I am seriously unimpressed by my display on my MacBook Pro M1 2021 I have had the laptop a few months now and I'm finding I'm using it less. I haven't got round to asking Apple about it but I'm finding it uncomfortable to use.

I have been told in previous posts that Mini-led screens have darker edged and this is normal?

But for some reason I'm finding the panel sickly if I'm dead centre the display has a bright spot in the middle and if I move my head left or right the shift in brightness is horrid. on mostly white websites it feels like I'm looking at this across the screen even though not as extreme!

I tried to capture it here...

I have to keep my head locked centre otherwise the brightness shift causes my eyes to pull out of focus or if I move slightly one way I can see a blue tint down one side or the other.

anyone else have such an issue?

I don't get this experience with my MBP 2012 15" its making me not want to sell that because I'm finding myself keep going back to it. just wondering what to do for the best now.

Cheers guys

The screen looks very bright to me. Like sun reflecting off concrete. One of the reasons I wanted to upgrade was actually because of the improved screen. Of course, in the end I decided not to but now I'm even more glad I didn't.

That being said, I do own a 2019 15" MacBook Pro base model. So the latest MBP isn't really necessary for me personally. The one I have is relatively new and still works great for my needs.

I think if you're having eye troubles with this model, and are NOT having eye troubles with previous models, well then...

Also, maybe others here with the new model can give their thoughts whether they're having the same issues or not

Angle of view does make a noticeable difference, and the larger the screen, the more it comes into play. If you're looking (or taking a photo) from close up, you'll notice the change brightness more. Further back, it's more even.

There are other things that can cause eye strain with the new screens. There's a thread here about it somewhere, though I don't know that it would help, as there's not much you can do about it.
