Thinking of switching to the LG V10

So a week or so I held someone's LG G5 (I think) and was shocked as to how nice it was. Solid and a bit thicker than my 6 Plus and that textured back was very nice.

The V10 is the same, and it's bigger. And honestly, I think either my eyes are getting that much worse or my hands are getting bigger, but my 6 Plus is getting to be too small.

I used to have a Nexus 7 and a few other Android phones so I still own all those apps. And frankly, I miss Talon and Sync For Reddit. Probably the one twitter and reddit client that is many times better than any iOS client.

I still have an iPad Air 2, so all my nice apps like Things and others I'll still have and use, so that isn't an issue.

Just some thoughts I wanted to share. Anyone have the V10 and can offer some input?

I had a G3 and really liked it thought the interface was light weight, maybe its changed. I have been thinking of making a change recently just because I'm a little bored with my current device.

I've heard. But I own Nova Launcher so it wouldn't be a huge issue.

Not sure what exactly your saying but it shipped with marshmallow 6.0.1 I believe.

I get it now yeah the v10 shipped with lollipop I got kind of confused because the G5 was kind of mixed in the conversation. My bad.

You held a G4, the G5 comes out this month, and it is an all Metal body.

I'd say stay away from the V10 at this point, wait for the LG G5, it uses the newer Snapdragon 820 CPU, new LG UI, USB Type C, newer and improved Camera, has Android 6.0 out-the-by and should run more efficiently.

The LG V10 is a great phone. If I had the money to buy one Android phone available now, this would be it. I like how notifications can come in on the 2nd screen and not interrupt what you are doing on the primary display. Also, they serve as a place to toggle camera modes as well, which is useful. Hopefully, these videos can help you decide.

I think the main disparity between the V10 and the upcoming G5 is the lack of back buttons on the new G5 model. Additionally, the new interface of the G5 takes away certain features like the app drawer, the QSlide apps, opening 2 apps at once etc. These changes may affect your purchasing choice.

Yeah but he's saying that the 6 Plus is "too small" so the LG G5 screen - 5'3" - would surely be too small as well.

If Verizon had the Samsung Mega... but I haven't seen one in a while. Actually, in about 6 months.

Is there anything else you want from a phone other than a large screen and good build quality? The V10 definitely fits the bill but if those are your only requirements you should check out other phones like the Nexus 6P, Note 5 and Moto X Style/Pure. All well-built and have the same screen size as the V10. So many good options these days.

At first I liked the Nexus 6P, but no, the build quality is pure ****. Have you ever seen any of the youtube videos on the 6P? It's pure trash. Now the Moto Nexus is sweet and Verizon sells it but it isn't as big as the V10.

You're the first person I've seen rip the build quality of the 6P. Everyone I know who has used it has liked it a lot.

I can actually vouch for the 6P having some build quality issues. The Black model has paint scruffs with just normal use or barely any usage. A phone shouldn't have paint peeling. The other colors are probably better. It's a known issue with the paint. That's not really "build quality" stuff, but it is to me. I have concerns with the Black. Google refused to replace my 6P. So I got a refund and used some of the $ towards my GS7 Edge. Sure, the Edge is more pricer, but I enjoy my share of Samsung products as long as they have no lag, less bloat, good battery life. Samsung did that this time, which was unlike the GS6/GS6E. The best big screen phone that Verizon offers, at least right now, is the iPhone 6S Plus imo. LG's software is too primitive to me. Last LG UI driven phone I had was the LG G3. It was so terrible w/ software bogs. It's like what Touchwiz was in the GS3/GS4.

I just don't personally trust the Chinese OEMs at this point considering they traditionally are known for their super cheaply priced devices. Obviously feeling solid in hand doesn't necessarily translate to actual high build quality.

I would think Google does QC of manufacturers that build Nexus devices. Maybe I was wrong.
