I can't think of a more comfortable laptop now that I have it. My friend got me one for my birthday after my old laptop got stolen in a break-in during the month of October, and I'm very happy with it. I might've requested the 16" MBP had I known it was releasing so soon, but it's honestly okay because this laptop is a beast. I love it so much! Does anyone have one of these bad boys?

I have the generation 1 version of ThinkPad X1 extreme, 32 Gb ram. Really like the keyboard and windows is not so bad either, specially having the windows vista some years back that was somewhat of a pain. But no more. Very best to you with your new Windows laptop. It should serve you well for many years.

I have gen 1 too and besides the mobo being replaced twice for free and the battery life only lasts 2/3h it's a fantastic laptop

Interesting comparison between the Thinkpad X1E

Looks like the new MBP edges out the X1E Gen2 performance-wise, but its a 1,000 more.

I've said this on a couple of occasions, the Thinkpad X1E reminds me of a minivan, not sexy but extremely useful. It has more ports, better keyboard (that's spill-resistant), more options and imo a better buy.

I would claim that X1E is sexy.
I really like the feel of carbon fiber / magnesium over aluminium. It really feels more sturdy.

I also love multiple ports selection.
Only thing I really don't like is the 16:9 screen. I get it why most PC makers use that aspect ratio, it's way more cheaper then 16:10 or 3:2.

But I would gladly pay more for 16:10 X1E.
