This started to be annoying. I was having 8 sticks of Micron FB-DIMM's 800 MHz each 4 GB = 32 GB total with small heatsinks. To cool them down I've installed Zalman BGA heatsinks on top of them.

5th April 2011 - first stick died, replaced with Hynix
29th November 2011 - second stick died, replaced with Kingston
16 Februrary 2012 - third stick died, about a month before I've replaced all Zalman aluminium heatsinks with high-end copper Enzotech Heatsinks.

What's going on with this Micron ?

My current temps are as follows:
69,68,73,60,69,63,69,60

Is this too high for FB-DIMM ?

I have 8 Samsung sticks with non Apple sinks and they run over 2 years (24/7), even a little hotter than yours, without issues. You may have a bad luck I guess. Could you post a pic of these Enzotech sinks?

I got these sticks since January-February 2010.

I've used HWMonitor on Windows 7. The funny thing is that CPU-Z is still able to read SPD from this faulty stick.

I would like to buy one stick of CSX memory with large heatsinks but is it 2Rx4 ?

Here is the Enzotech's gallery: http://imageshack.us/g/11/dsc00740hh.jpg/

Can you tell me if Samsung is 2Rx4 ? Hynix and Kingston pair great together with Micron.

I booted my Mac Pro today with this faulty stick and bam - 32 GB RAM is back again and working normally, no errors detected. What was that ? Did it fixed itself ?

Memory America FTW

I use this kit, they have HUGE heatsinks and a lifetime warranty, no replacement blues for me.
I bought 2 sets of 4 x 2GB over 2 years, I'm running 16GB total. They run hot at 65ºc - 85ºc but don't really mind apparently.
Had 1 x 2GB stick go bad in 2009 they replaced all 4 of the 2 matched pairs I bought it in, no quibbles. Had another stick go in the 2nd set of matched pairs in 2010, yet again full replacement of all 4 and only paid the postage. Both replacement sets have been fine since (about 18 months).
Can't beat it! Lovin' it. :D

Intermittent problem. Keep an eye on it.

I've moved it into different slot today and it's not working with red LED. Good I got Nanya today.

It will a perfect pair with my Hynix because it has the same specs:

6-6-6-18-24

and my 5 Micron's and 1 Kingston is 5-5-5-18-22.
