I came across an example program where there is a provision of adding a .a file and a libxml port for iphone, and it runs fines too

my question is

considering that so many experts in iphone/mac developement denying that third party frameworks [library] is possible in iphone, how would this library have been developed ?

moreover, the header files are obj c type functions defined whose body is in that .a file. What is the way it has been done ?

ideas / debates please
